Founded in Honour of our rat Frankie, we are primarily a rat rescue in Ontario taking in, caring for and adopting mistreated and neglected rats all over Ontario including adoptions in the GTA where we have now opened our second location.
Check out this awesome tribute video by Geobeats Animals for a lovely summary of who Frankie is, how special her bond with her human was, and how it inspired her to found Frankie's World Rat Rescue! Please watch, like, and share her amazing story!
Frankie’s World Rat Rescue is a registered nonprofit organization. We are a domestic animal rescue and sanctuary, with a primary location in Parry Sound, and secondary one in Burlington, serving Northeastern Ontario, as well as the Greater Toronto Area, and various other areas across Ontario when possible.
Better the lives of some of the most misunderstood and mistreated animals through rescue, rehabilitation, crisis response, and re-homing; as well as through preventative efforts, local outreach, and education. Our mission is to fill a need in our region, as there are very few animal rescues based in Northern Ontario, and none in the Parry Sound district.
We specialize in providing refuge to domestic rats in need, with our intakes coming from various situations such as owner surrenders, abandoned domestic rats living in the wild, escapees from labs, feeder rat breeders, etc...We also work with other organizations to take in animals from overwhelmed shelters in Ontario and rescues. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome rats. We also provide permanent sanctuary to some rats and other misfit animals who are not adoptable either with special needs and medical complexity, as well as those who are elderly, already having lived in multiple homes and to whom it would be an undue stress to re-home once again. We also take in dogs, cats, and other species in need in our area, mostly on a short-term basis until we can find them a home or transfer them to a more species specific facility.
If you're interested in pet rats for adoption, please check out the ones we have at our GTA rat rescue. We are often able to travel to help rats find amazing families.
