Adopt from our Ontario Rat Rescue

You've decided you want to adopt rat(s) into your home, what's next?

  1. Read the info below!
  2. Browse our pictures and profiles for the adoptable rats!
  3. Fill out an application!
  4. If approved, bring home a new FOREVER friend!

PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.

We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.

The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:

  • To determine your experience and knowledge of rats - that helps us to help you find the best rats that fit exactly what you are searching for.
  • To find out where you are at with setting up enclosures.
  • To ensure you will care for rats and take them to a vet if needed just like dogs and cats.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently.

We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!

If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!

Adoptable Male Rats

Corbin (Solo boy)The Golden Boys (bonded trio)Harry and Ginny (male and spayed female pair)Rinky (Solo boy)Adoption Application

Corbin (Solo male not to be integrated)

    Meet Solo boy Corbin

Corbin was surrendered to us recently by someone who sadly no longer wanted him. His owner moved away leaving him behind with their parents who didn't want rats and so he came to live hopefully temporarily at our rescue. Corbin is thought to be over 2 so he is looking for a retirement home where he can soak up all the love he can for hopefully his remaining year or more 🤞

Corbin is getting friendlier the more time we spend with him and can be picked up or cuddle on your shoulder from time to time. Corbin does love food and is a bit aggressive with taking treats from your hands so watch your finger if you try and hand feed him! He is such a sweetie though and with the right person will hopefully have a loving ending to his story.

    The Golden Boys (bonded trio)

      Meet The Golden Boys

The golden boys are a charming, chubby trio of 1 year 2 month old boys looking for their forever home. Up until 3 months ago, they spent their early lives crammed in a terrible pet store cage with other boy rats. In this environment one ended up with most of his tail missing from bullying and injuries from the other boys. Despite their traumatic past, all 3 boys are very open to human affection and interaction. They love saying hello at the front of the cage, getting snacks, and are mostly ok with being picked up and pet (they  are getting more comfy with this by the day, now that they are safe and in a spacious enclosure at Frankie's!)

UNIQUE PAIR Harry and Ginny (boy and spayed girl pair)

        Meet Harry and Ginny

Harry and Ginny are one unique pair- we usually don't ever see girls and boys live together for.... reasons. But because Ginny is spayed, they make an adorable married couple! If you're having trouble picking between boy and girl rats, why not have both!

Harry is as sweet and goofy at heart as he looks- he's very friendly, gentle, and loves attention. Ginny is the same, albeit more sassy. Harry frequently checks to on Ginny to make sure his wifey is alright, and of course nudge his head into her neck to check she still loves him.

        Rinky (Solo boy)

Meet our solo boy Rinky (located in Toronto)

Rinky is 6 months old and was surrendered July 2025 because family was leaving the country. He was purchased from a pet store and is friendly social, quite outgoing and energetic as far as boys go.

Rinky is currently a solo boy and we would love him to go to a home with younger brothers he could integrate with.

SPECIAL HOME NEEDED for Solo male Ed

Special home needed for solo boy Ed

Ed is looking for a human who can provide him with what will likely be a hands off life Showing love from a distance.
We unfortunately don't know too much about Ed's past but what we do know is that he acts quite feral. He is definitely a pet rat but may have been the baby of a wild/domestic rat combo leaving him to be half wild rat. Therefore he is a bit too wild to be handled right now but also too domestic to be released or treated as a wild rat. We have encountered this once before with a group we called the "wild girls" and "wild boys" and being half and half, they did eventually warm up to their humans but it was not a guarantee. There's no knowing what the future will hold for this boy but we do believe we can find him a home with someone who will give him LOTS of places to hide and show him love from afar with lots of treats, talking to him and enjoying his presence.
