PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.
Thank you for your interest in pet rat adoption! Our rats have so much love to share and make the BEST companions! Super smart, social, and make very deep bonds with their people.
The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently. We are not a rat breeder, we are a rat adoption centre and only want the best lives for our rescues. IF you need to return a rat(s), it is YOUR responsibility to get them back to us, whether that's to our physical location (most often Parry Sound where we have the most space), or a foster home if we can secure one. We can help with transport at times, in exchange for a donation to cover gas money and time, but our resources are thin, so we appreciate you taking the time to bring them back if they need to return to us.
We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!
If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!
Hello to my potential forever family! My name is Turbo (black hooded, 2yr). I am a very friendly who is super curious and love free roaming. I love hanging out with people but do not like other rats or the smell of other rats. I am in need of a home that will give me lots of attention each day.
Turbo was surrendered with brothers as a group of 3. They were unfortunately not getting along too well resulting in the 3rd boy needing a tail amputation. He healed well and is in a forever home as well as the second brother in a separate home. Now Turbo is the last one with us and just as his brothers he seem to not like the smell of other rats and despite our best efforts, have not been able to integrate with other males and also aren't thrilled about living together. Although extremely rare, we have come across a handful of male rats in similar situations who despite our best efforts, want to be on their own. We think that might be the case for these boys so we are looking to home them as solo males to live on their own with lots of human attention but no other rats. We know this is unusual so please if you're interested or concerned ask us about them! We're looking to find them somewhere where they can live happy for the rest of their lives!
Tubby is a 1.5 year old lone rattie. He is not a good candidate for neutering. We have tried to integrate him with all sorts of ratties and he is not interested in anymore friends. He prefers not to be around other rats but loves humans! He is a sweet boy and likes to have lots of independent play time mixed with interactions with his humans. He would do best in a home where he was the only rat or where his cage could be away from other rats. He likes to nibble if your hands smell like food, but otherwise he is very gentle… as long as you don’t smell like other rats!
Tubby would love to be your loyal sidekick!
Rambo( brown with white belly), Rinky(beige), Rocky (light brown/grey with white belly), Rhino (black with white belly) are 5 to 6 month old males, surrendered July 2025 because family was leaving the country. They were purchased from a pet store, all extremely friendly and social, quite outgoing and energetic as far as boys go. Ideally must go as a group of four. They have had some issues since being with the rescue with fighting with each other, we think this is because of the smells of all the other rats around them. We are going to trial moving them to a room on their own to see how they do. There was no reported fighting or issues at their home before they were surrendered to the rescue.
This lovely pair of boys are looking for a patient forever home. They are being fostered in Rockwood near Guelph and have been waiting a long time for a home. These Boys are around a year old.
These boys were being bred for snake food and the person’s snake passed, so they surrendered the rest of their live feeders to us. These boys are sweet and our amazing foster is working on socializing them every day. They do love their space but will tolerate being picked up if it's needed. They are a bit more independent and prefer to be close by and choose when to give their humans some extra attention.
They would do best as being the only rats and not integrated with any current males.

These two sweet, friendly, and calm boy rats were brought to our rescue after someone stepped in to remove them from a neglectful home. They will be ready to go to a new forever home mid August after quarantine and weekly health checks to ensure they are ready!
These boys are both very sweet and friendly. They are happy as a pair or may also be able to be integrated. We're not sure on their age as they were bounced around 3 neglectful homes but appear to be between 6months to 1year. Despite such a rough start they are amazing boys and would be a great addition to your home!
These lovely little ratties are looking for some forever homes as their owner unfortunately ended up with more rats than they intended. Unfortunately they were told they were adopting 2 females but were given a male and female and now have too many on their hands. They were sweet rats but are a bit skittish and would need some time learning to be handled. There are 4 males (D.O.B June 2025). Located in Arthur Ontario.
There are 2 bonded pairs In this group of 4 and they must go in those pairs.
