Adopt from our Ontario Rat Rescue

You've decided you want to adopt rat(s) into your home, what's next?

  1. Read the info below!
  2. Browse our pictures and profiles for the adoptable rats!
  3. Fill out an application!
  4. If approved, bring home a new FOREVER friend!

PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.

We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.

The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:

  • To determine your experience and knowledge of rats - that helps us to help you find the best rats that fit exactly what you are searching for.
  • To find out where you are at with setting up enclosures.
  • To ensure you will care for rats and take them to a vet if needed just like dogs and cats.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently.

We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!

If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!

Adoptable Male Rats

Rambo, Rinky, Rocky and Rhino (group of 4)Pim and Pom (duo in Burlington)Harry and Ginny (male and spayed female pair)Bestie (Solo male in Kitchener)Adoption Application

Pim and Pom

    Meet Pim and Pom

Pim and Pom are a sweet duo that really want attention! They were surrendered to us by a family who unfortunately lost interest in rats and wanted to find them a better home That would give them the attention and love they need. Pim is very confident and comes to the front of the cage to interact, Pom is shy and takes longer to come but will always say hi for snacks. Due to the stress of moving around, these boys did start fighting a bit and we went through reintroductions to bring harmony back to their bond and things are going really well! They are back in their regular cage and have been living together with no squabbles for a few weeks and are ready to go home!

Pim and Pom would need to be the only rats in the home and not be integrated with others. They are also around 1.5yrs old.

UNIQUE PAIR Harry and Ginny (boy and spayed girl pair)

      Meet Harry and Ginny

Harry and Ginny are one unique pair- we usually don't ever see girls and boys live together for.... reasons. But because Ginny is spayed, they make an adorable married couple! If you're having trouble picking between boy and girl rats, why not have both!

Harry is as sweet and goofy at heart as he looks- he's very friendly, gentle, and loves attention. Ginny is the same, albeit more sassy. Harry frequently checks to on Ginny to make sure his wifey is alright, and of course nudge his head into her neck to check she still loves him.

Bestie (Solo boy looking to be homes with friends)

        Meet Bestie

Bestie is truly a best friend and the sweetest pet! He is 1.5yrs old and unfortunately needs a new home as one of his other brothers is picking on him. Bestie needs a home with other male rats as he loves attention both rat and human. He's great with kids as well and super gentle.

Bestie is currently in a home in Kitchener waiting for his forever family.

Rambo, Rinky, Rocky and Rhino (group of 4)

Meet Rambo, Rinky, Rocky and Rhino (group of 4)

Rambo( brown with white belly), Rinky(beige), Rocky (light brown/grey with white belly), Rhino (black with white belly) are 5 to 6 month old males, surrendered July 2025 because family was leaving the country. They were purchased from a pet store, all extremely friendly and social, quite outgoing and energetic as far as boys go. Ideally must go as a group of four. They have had some issues since being with the rescue with fighting with each other, we think this is because of the smells of all the other rats around them. We are going to trial moving them to a room on their own to see how they do. There was no reported fighting or issues at their home before they were surrendered to the rescue.
