PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.
The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently.
We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!
If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!

These adorable inseparable boys were born in December 2025. Coming from a loving home that underestimated how much work rats are, these two boys have a big heart! They are super curious and gentle youngsters who made a ton of progress with us in the rescue, from timid and shy to now happier, confident, and playful rats. Their favourite is giving us finger kisses as a thank you for treats! They may take some time to get used to a new home, but once they blossom they will be there every moment to give their future human gentle love and joy ♥️
Jake, Tazer, Chippy, and their two brothers were all born safely in rescue care, never having to experience life without love or compassion. These sweet boys are a little shy at first, but with patience and a gentle approach, their personalities begin to shine. They’ll need some time to adjust to a new home and become comfortable with their new human family, but once they feel safe, they are sure to make wonderful companions for someone willing to give them the chance they deserve.
A small clan has entered the arena! Originally a group of 6, these boys are very sweet, friendly, and ready for a home to take over (only in the most affectionate ways). Coming from a home where they were unwanted and left with a family friend who graciously cared for them as long as they could, they came out on the other side thankfully still full of health and joy. They would be wonderful for first time owners and homes with young kids given their playful friendly nature. They are estimated to be 8 - 10 months old. One pair of best friends is the black rat with a white belly and the brown rat, the other pair is the black-hooded rat and pearly white rat. We believe both pairs would do well integrating with other rats if you have, but are also happy to stay as pairs and can usually be found snuggling together in the daytime!
Meet The Bridge Boys! 🌉💙
These adorable baby boys earned their nickname after being discovered under a bridge in Meaford, Ontario. Thankfully, a kind passerby spotted them and reached out to us for urgent help. Thanks to that lifesaving call, these lucky little guys now have a second chance at finding loving forever homes.
Estimated to be between 10–13 weeks old, this trio has proven just how resilient they are. They have had a rough start, but are incredibly curious and with time, would warm up to be comfortable around people, and are ready to become wonderful companions.
Whether you're a first-time small animal owner or an experienced rat lover, these sweet boys would make great pets. Their gentle personalities and affectionate nature make them a joy to be around.
Could you be the happy ending these little survivors deserve? Ask about the Bridge Boys and see if one (or three!) steals your heart. ❤️
Marshmallow came to us recently after he was rescued by an amazing couple of animal lovers who witnessed their neighbour heartlessly dumping him outside by some trash bins. Despite this frightful experience, Marshmallow pushed through and still trusts humans. He is one heck of a confident boy! Given his past, he is very protective of his home and prefers our hands outside of his home. Once he comes out to play though, he is a fun lovely boy who loves his treats and veggies! Call his name and he quickly comes to the front of the cage to greet you.
We are working on integrating Marshmallow with other boys in our rescue so that he can have friends during his time with us. To address his overly nippy, aggressive nature and stress towards hands in his cage, he will be receiving a hormonal implant very soon. For the time being, he can be adopted as a solo boy if you already have boys that he can join. He has already been successfully integrated with an older rat and it went very smoothly!
"He needs someone who won't try to change him and will let him chill in peace and be fed"
Draco was surrendered in September 2025 and we were told he was around 2 years old. He was with a group of 5 boys but had to be separated as he was fighting and ended up with a tail wound requiring amputation Which was successfully done in March. He would be looking for a home where he can live on his own being fed snacks and watched from a distance likely not wanting human or other rat interactions. Because of this, we think he may remain a permanent resident of our rescue unless the right person comes along who understands his need for quiet and space.
Meet: Ghost, Rebel, Daddy and Patch. These 4 sweeties are 6 month old males! They were desperately in need of a home, and a kind neighbor stepped in to assist temporarily, but now they need a permanent home as they cannot keep them longterm! They are handled often and very friendly. They have interacted well with kids and adults… everyone who has met them loves them! Very gentle and sweet. They just want a permanent place to be loved.
These boys are located in Owen Sound and we are supporting with rehoming, but they are not part of the rescue. This means we cannot guarantee health and temperament, but we do believe that the current owner is taking good care of them.
If you believe you would be a good fit for these boys, please fill out an adoption application. Please note: you must be able to drive to Owen Sound for pick up.
The moms of these adorable baby rats are the Bridge girls who got their name after someone dumped them and their brothers together under a bridge In Meaford. They were doing great once we took them in and were almost done their quarantine when out popped a bunch of babies and turns out all 5 girls were pregnant! This is one of the reasons quarantine is so important and we're glad they had their babies with us before going to the homes we had lined up for them. All moms and babies are doing great! There are 52 babies total so we need lots of homes for them all!
The moms and their babies are super friendly, social, and curious, making them perfect companions! Although this is a lot to take on having to home so many rats, We're grateful these rats will only ever know love and get the best care ❤️ Babies are currently being fostered in Parry Sound and Waterdown.
Want to welcome these cuties into your life? 🏡 Fill out an adoption application to give them the loving home they deserve! 💕
