Adopt from our Ontario Rat Rescue

You've decided you want to welcome rat(s) into your home, what's next?

  1. Read the info below!
  2. Browse our pictures and profiles for the adoptable rats!
  3. Fill out an application!
  4. If approved, bring home a new FOREVER friend!

PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.

We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.

The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:

  • To determine your experience and knowledge of rats - that helps us to help you find the best rats that fit exactly what you are searching for.
  • To find out where you are at with setting up enclosures.
  • To ensure you will care for rats and take them to a vet if needed just like dogs and cats.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently.

We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!

If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!

Gigi and Fifi (bonded duo)

Meet Gigi and Fifi (bonded duo)

These adorable inseparable boys were born in December 2025. Coming from a loving home that underestimated how much work rats are, these two boys have a big heart! They are super curious and gentle youngsters who made a ton of progress with us in the rescue, from timid and shy to now happier, confident, and playful rats. Their favourite is giving us finger kisses as a thank you for treats! They may take some time to get used to a new home, but once they blossom they will be there every moment to give their future human gentle love and joy ♥️

    Five Babies (born January 14)

      5 Boys born January 14th

Jake, Tazer, Chippy, and their two brothers were all born safely in rescue care, never having to experience life without love or compassion. These sweet boys are a little shy at first, but with patience and a gentle approach, their personalities begin to shine. They’ll need some time to adjust to a new home and become comfortable with their new human family, but once they feel safe, they are sure to make wonderful companions for someone willing to give them the chance they deserve.

Two pairs of young boys (to go to separate homes)

        Meet our 4 young boys

A small clan has entered the arena! Originally a group of 6, these boys are very sweet, friendly, and ready for a home to take over (only in the most affectionate ways). Coming from a home where they were unwanted and left with a family friend who graciously cared for them as long as they could, they came out on the other side thankfully still full of health and joy. They would be wonderful for first time owners and homes with young kids given their playful friendly nature. They are estimated to be 8 - 10 months old. One pair of best friends is the black rat with a white belly and the brown rat, the other pair is the black-hooded rat and pearly white rat. We believe both pairs would do well integrating with other rats if you have, but are also happy to stay as pairs and can usually be found snuggling together in the daytime!

        The Bridge Boys (trio)

          Meet the bridge boys

This trio of baby boys got their name from being  found under a bridge in Meaford, Ontario. The are lucky someone found them and contacted us for urgent assistance. They are 8-13 weeks old and very friendly and social despite such a rough start to life. The would make great pets for anyone with any level of experience.

          Benny and Marshmallow

            Meet Benny and Marshmallow!

Benny (grey) is a sweetheart who was looking for friends for his retirement. He came to us at what were told to be 2 years old, and he was unfortunately kept separate from other rats.

Luckily, Marshmallow (siamese) came to us recently and has become fast friends with Benny! Marshmallow was rescued by an amazing couple of animal lovers who witnessed their neighbour heartlessly dumping him outside by some trash bins. Despite this frightful experience, Marshmallow pushed through and still trusts humans. He is one heck of a confident boy! Given his past, he is very protective of his home with Benny and prefers our hands outside of his home. Once he comes out to play though, he is a fun lovely boy who loves his treats and veggies!

We are hoping to find Marshmallow and Benny a forever home despite Benny being older and maybe only having a year or so left. If you'd like to give these boys a chance, keeping in mind in the future Marshmallow will need more friends after his time with Benny comes to a close, please apply to adopt them!

Solo male Draco (not to be integrated)

Meet Draco our Grumpy Old Man

"He needs someone who won't try to change him and will let him chill in peace and be fed"

Draco was surrendered in September 2025 and we were told he was around 2 years old. He was with a group of 5 boys but had to be separated as he was fighting and ended up with a tail wound requiring amputation Which was successfully done in March. He would be looking for a home where he can live on his own being fed snacks and watched from a distance likely not wanting human or other rat interactions. Because of this, we think he may remain a permanent resident of our rescue unless the right person comes along who understands his need for quiet and space.

              Owen Sound Boys

Meet the Owen Sound Boys (group of 4)

Meet: Ghost, Rebel, Daddy and Patch. These 4 sweeties are 6 month old males! They were desperately in need of a home, and a kind neighbor stepped in to assist temporarily, but now they need a permanent home as they cannot keep them longterm! They are handled often and very friendly. They have interacted well with kids and adults… everyone who has met them loves them! Very gentle and sweet. They just want a permanent place to be loved.

These boys are located in Owen Sound and we are supporting with rehoming, but they are not part of the rescue. This means we cannot guarantee health and temperament, but we do believe that the current owner is taking good care of them.

If you believe you would be a good fit for these boys, please fill out an adoption application. Please note: you must be able to drive to Owen Sound for pick up.

                Baby Boys (born May 2026)

                  Cinco (Male mouse)

Meet Cinco our Solo Male Mouse

Hi there! My name is Cinco.

Now, before you ask—yes, I got my name because I originally cost $5. But I'd like to make one thing clear: I refuse to let society decide that my value can be summed up by a price tag.

My story didn't start out easy. I came from a pet store where life was pretty rough. The other mice picked on me relentlessly, and one day things got so bad that I was left injured and bleeding With marks all down my back and tail. Thankfully, a kindhearted person saw what was happening and couldn't walk away. They bought me and wanted more for me, and that's how I found my way here At a rescue that will find me the best home I could ask for and the life I deserve.

These days, I'm healing and learning that not everyone has bad intentions. Underneath my tough beginnings is a young boy who still has plenty of curiosity, determination, and spirit. I've already proven that I'm a survivor.

I may not have had the right start, but I'm ready for a fresh chapter with a family who sees me for who I am—not what I cost.

If you're looking for a little friend with a big personality, a resilient heart, and a story worth rooting for, I might just be your guy.

After all, I was only $5 to the store. But I'm priceless to the people who gave me a second chance.

Could you be the one to give me my forever home?
