PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.
The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently.
We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!
If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!

Draco was surrendered in September 2025 and we were told he was around 2 years old. He was with a group of 5 boys but had to be separated as he was fighting and ended up with a tail wound requiring amputation Which was successfully done in March.Draco is a sweet boy who likes hanging out with people but doesn't like being pet or picked up. When his tail was amputated, he did need quite some time being wrapped up and handed to keep his wound healing properly and we think this might have turned him off being handled for the time being. Hopefully this will get better with time but there's no guarantees. He hasn't had any other health issues and hopefully can find a home where he can get lots of time to just be around people and live a quiet rest of his life.
Corbin was surrendered to us being a two year old sadly living alone despite wanting friends! We quickly decided he needed to be integrated and he's now super happy with two baby brothers! Although Corbin is older and likely around or over 2, his new brothers are making him feel and act young again being only about 3 months old themselves.
Corbin has some quirks that would need someone who understands his likes and dislikes. For example he loves full body pets but when snacks come out, he can grab them a bit aggressively from hands. Or when items in his cage are moved infront of him, he can get upset and bite making him seem aggressive when he's really just expressing his dislike in furniture arrangements. We're happy to talk to his potential adopter about these quirks to ensure a safe transition for everyone.
Benny is a sweetheart who's looking for friends for his retirement Year. He came to us at what were told to be 2 years old (maybe just over 2) and he was unfortunately kept separate from other rats. He clearly wants friends and although we have tried to integrate him with some of our pairs of rats, the ones we've tried have decided that they don't like him. Benny has only ever tried to cuddle and be a big brother to rats but we can't seem to understand why he's being left out. We are hoping to find him a forever home where he can have friends because despite being older and maybe only having a year or so left, we know he wants more than anything to spend that time with other rats. If you'd like to give this boy a chance, we know he'll be such a good friend and can work with anyone to help encourage the best integration outcome.
Jake, Tazer, Chippy and two unnamed brothers were all born at the rescue and thankfully didn't have to live any of their lives unloved or unwanted. They are sweet but skittish and would need some time to settle into their home and get familiarized with being handled.
These adorable boys were born in December 2025. Coming from a loving home that underestimated how much work rats are, these two boys have a big heart! They are super curious and gentle youngsters who are doing great in the rescue, however the noises from other rats in cages nearby spook them frequently. They are timid because of this, but do come up to us for snacks, occasionally pets, and to give finger kisses! They are scared of being picked up, but it seems to be all tied to some fear towards the older adult boys in cages around them in their first foster home. We are working with them in a new foster home where they are the only fosters to help them blossom ♥️
A small clan has entered the arena! These 6 boys are very sweet, friendly, and ready for a home to take over (only in the most affectionate ways). Coming from a home where they were unwanted and left with a family friend who graciously cared for them as long as they could, they came out on the other side thankfully still full of health and joy. They would be wonderful for first time owners and homes with young kids. They are estimated to be 8 - 12 months old, 2 are black-hodded, 1 is mostly black with some white, 2 are brown with some white, and 1 is pearly white. Must go in at least pairs!
This trio of baby boys got their name from being found under a bridge in Meaford ontario. The are lucky someone found them and contacted us for urgent assistance. They are 8-13 weeks old and very friendly and social despite such a rough start to life. The would make great pets for anyone with any level of experience.
Meet: Ghost, Rebel, Daddy and Patch. These 4 sweeties are 6 month old males! They were desperately in need of a home, and a kind neighbor stepped in to assist temporarily, but now they need a permanent home as they cannot keep them longterm! They are handled often and very friendly. They have interacted well with kids and adults… everyone who has met them loves them! Very gentle and sweet. They just want a permanent place to be loved.
These boys are located in Owen Sound and we are supporting with rehoming, but they are not part of the rescue. This means we cannot guarantee health and temperament, but we do believe that the current owner is taking good care of them.
If you believe you would be a good fit for these boys, please fill out an adoption application. Please note: you must be able to drive to Owen Sound for pick up.
