PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.
Thank you for your interest in pet rat adoption! Our rats have so much love to share and make the BEST companions! Super smart, social, and make very deep bonds with their people.
The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently. We are not a rat breeder, we are a rat adoption centre and only want the best lives for our rescues. IF you need to return a rat(s), it is YOUR responsibility to get them back to us, whether that's to our physical location (most often Parry Sound where we have the most space), or a foster home if we can secure one. We can help with transport at times, in exchange for a donation to cover gas money and time, but our resources are thin, so we appreciate you taking the time to bring them back if they need to return to us.
We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!
If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!
Losing thier foster home in 2-3 months (Dec-Jan) and need a forever home!
These babies are now 7 months old. They were born at Frankie's World in March 2024, a few days after their moms came in as part of a large scale rescue from a hoarders house. They have been doing amazing in one of our foster homes and are super cute and friendly!
They will make the perfect pet rats for anyone with any level of experience with rats. They've got such amazing little personalities that we know anyone will love.
These wonderful young girls are being fostered in Grand Valley. They came from someone with good intentions of rescuing them from a bad situation, but who sDadly didn't recognize her limits, and was not able to properly care for them either. They’re sweet ladies, all around 5 months. We recommend a patient household that is willing to provide these girls with consistency and lots of love. They were not socialized well as babies and are still learning how to interact with people (though they do not nip!), but they’re doing amazing so far. They have already improved so much and we know with the right home they will become cuddly babies. These girls must be adopted in pairs or more :)
Our rescue is helping rehome a large number of baby rats and their moms. Born Sept 20th!
They were released OUTSIDE, in Huntsville Ontario, and were trapped over the course of a couple days by an amazing volunteer who is now fostering them all! It was quite an adventure! One male and 2 females were trapped first, by one of the people living at the house (the only one trying to help the rats), and just Willow remained. The girl reached out because she couldn't trap the last one, and her partner was threatening to poison whoever was left. We knew she looked pregnant, as did the others, so we HAD to find her before she gave birth....Unfortunately, when she was trapped we discovered she had given birth, and were told the people who owned the property wouldn't let us put her back to help us find the babies. After I insisted on a phone call with them, and convincing them to let us release her again, she led us right to the nest of babies!!!....BUT, then we couldn't get her again....So, her babies were given to the other 2 moms to care for, until Willow was trapped 2 days later. They are ALL now safe and sound, handled daily, and looking for loving forever homes!
Help us make the rest of their lives better than the way they started! Males and females for adoption located in Huntsville. Will be ready to go home in a few weeks once weaned.
Scary spice! One of the five Spice girls! She is very outgoing and likes to play with her mouth which means she is very mouthy but that doesn't mean she isn't a sweet girl she's just very curious and shows it by using her mouth! She's always the first to the bars and enjoys running. She is very adventurous and will be the first to find her way out of an open cage door, she wants to see absolutely everything and is definitely the leader of her mischief and encourages her sisters to be brave
Sporty Spice! She is much more reserved than all her sisters when it comes to hands coming towards her! She needs a gentle approach to bring her out of her shell for sure but she has made lots of progress from where we first started!
Baby Spice!! She is a little escape artists when it comes to time in the playpen which can be very amusing! She will take treats very excitedly like the rest of the Spice girls so watch your fingers! She is very vocal and makes lots of squeaking sounds when being handled and can get very squirmy!
Posh Spice! She is a very laid back type of lady who enjoys being pet and is the calm one of the group I also like to be pet as my humans enjoy petting me too as I'm very soft with my curly fur!
Ginger Spice! My current dad's think I should have been named baby Spice instead as I am a huge cry baby who will squeak at being handled! Much like my sister Baby Spice I enjoy jumping the playpen walls to explore as much as I can! I love climbing all over people!
I am Mable, and this is my sister Smudge! We were born 15 months ago when our mommy and daddy met by accident. I am too young to know what happened next, but then a few weeks later I was born! We are so friendly, we cannot explain how much we LOVE people and pets and exploring. Right now we are in Parry Sound in a foster home just waiting for a forever home. Can you imagine how awesome we would be as YOUR pets?! I bet you would love us!!
Hey there! We are Buttercup, Penne, Spaghetti and Macaroni. We are a bonded group of 4 and need to stay together forever! We are in Toronto right now living it up in the big city in our foster home, but we aren’t super picky about the city we live in, as long as you love us very much! We are all around 9 months old and our foster is helping us to be more confident. We are doing a pretty good job, and are opening up more and more everyday. We would never hurt anyone, but it would be great if you could respect our boundaries and go slow with us! Our favourite thing to do is play and eat. It was hard to choose just one thing so we had a mischief meeting and decided on those 2 things! We can’t wait to learn more about you… maybe you can take us all home soon!!
We were contacted about some baby rats who were rescue feeder rats and are now being given a second chance at life! They are all super sweet and easy to handle. They're young and full of energy just waiting for someone to give them a life full of the love they deserve.
Hello future family!! We are the a lovely group of girls who were very scared, shall we say terrified when we first arrived. We didn't like leaving our saucer until we were alone in the room after dark but with our current foster family, we have learned to love people and come out on our shells in just a couple short weeks! We have settled really well with people and now love to come running to our cage door when we know its time for snacks or to come out and play! We love running around with our foster mom and taking turns running all over her lap. However, sometimes if mom makes sudden movement or moves too fast, we can still get a little spooked. We are still getting used to being picked up but it's going great so far and we're getting more and more comfortable showing off our personalities. We'd love to show you too!
