PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.
Thank you for your interest in pet rat adoption! Our rats have so much love to share and make the BEST companions! Super smart, social, and make very deep bonds with their people.
The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently. We are not a rat breeder, we are a rat adoption centre and only want the best lives for our rescues. IF you need to return a rat(s), it is YOUR responsibility to get them back to us, whether that's to our physical location (most often Parry Sound where we have the most space), or a foster home if we can secure one. We can help with transport at times, in exchange for a donation to cover gas money and time, but our resources are thin, so we appreciate you taking the time to bring them back if they need to return to us.
We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!
If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!

These adorable baby rats were found under a bridge in Meaford, Ontario, but thanks to a little luck and a lot of love, they’re now safe and ready for their forever homes! 🐀💛

The moms of these adorable baby rats are the Bridge girls who got their name after someone dumped them and their brothers together under a bridge In Meaford. They were doing great once we took them in and were almost done their quarantine when out popped a bunch of babies and turns out all 5 girls were pregnant! This is one of the reasons quarantine is so important and we're glad they had their babies with us before going to the homes we had lined up for them. All moms and babies are doing great! There are 52 babies total so we need lots of homes for them all!
The moms are super friendly, social, and curious, making them perfect companions and we're sure the babies will be the same once they are grown and have learned the way of the rat from their mommas! Although this is a lot to take on having to home so many rats, We're grateful these rats will only ever know love and get the best care ❤️

Matilda was surrendered to us by someone who got her from a petstore after being told she was a boy. Flash forward to her showing up to our rescue, we confirmed with the surrenderer that she is not a boy, but a heavily pregnant girl! This is an unfortunately common problem with pet stores and why we always urge against ever buying rats from them, among numerous other problems with pet stores selling rats. Thankfully, she gave birth to a litter of healthy happy babies with us two days later. Matilda and nearly all of her colourful sweet babies have been adopted except for 1 little girl left :)
She is very sweet and speedy, and has been handled since birth.
This is a group of 3 girls that are being fostered in Niagara. They are all around 10-12 months old and very friendly making them suitable to almost anyone's home! One of the girls is on a medication called cabergoline which she will need for life so her new family will need to be comfortable and able to get her the medication. If you have any questions please ask away! They are just the sweetest girls and cant wait to find a forever home!
