PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted WITHIN a 2-3 hour radius of the GTA or Parry Sound, with possible exceptions depending on circumstances.
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through ALL OF IT: the adoption, transition, as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have ANY questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are ALWAYS here for rats (whether they've been adopted from us or not), and the humans that care for them.
Thank you for your interest in pet rat adoption! Our rats have so much love to share and make the BEST companions! Super smart, social, and make very deep bonds with their people.
The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can:
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently. We are not a rat breeder, we are a rat adoption centre and only want the best lives for our rescues. IF you need to return a rat(s), it is YOUR responsibility to get them back to us, whether that's to our physical location (most often Parry Sound where we have the most space), or a foster home if we can secure one. We can help with transport at times, in exchange for a donation to cover gas money and time, but our resources are thin, so we appreciate you taking the time to bring them back if they need to return to us.
We have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason!
If you don't see any rats listed that feel like a good fit, we often have new intakes that aren't yet updated on the website, so if you are looking for something specific, send us a message and we can let you know who else we might have available!
These wonderful young girls have been looking for homes for over 6 months now! They came from someone with good intentions of rescuing them from a bad situation, but who sadly didn't recognize her limits, and was not able to properly care for them either. They’re sweet ladies, all around 8 months. We recommend a patient household that is willing to provide these girls with consistency and lots of love. They were not socialized well as babies and are still learning how to interact with people (though they do not nip!), but they’re doing amazing so far. They have already improved so much and we know with the right home they will become cuddly babies. These girls must be adopted in pairs or more :)
Our rescue is helping rehome a large number of baby rats and their moms. Born Sept 20th!
They were released OUTSIDE, in Huntsville Ontario, and were trapped over the course of a couple days by an amazing volunteer who is now fostering them all! It was quite an adventure! One male and 2 females were trapped first, by one of the people living at the house (the only one trying to help the rats), and just Willow remained. The girl reached out because she couldn't trap the last one, and her partner was threatening to poison whoever was left. We knew she looked pregnant, as did the others, so we HAD to find her before she gave birth....Unfortunately, when she was trapped we discovered she had given birth, and were told the people who owned the property wouldn't let us put her back to help us find the babies. After I insisted on a phone call with them, and convincing them to let us release her again, she led us right to the nest of babies!!!....BUT, then we couldn't get her again....So, her babies were given to the other 2 moms to care for, until Willow was trapped 2 days later. They are ALL now safe and sound, handled daily, and looking for loving forever homes!
Help us make the rest of their lives better than the way they started! Males and females for adoption located in Huntsville. Will be ready to go home in a few weeks once weaned.
SPECIAL HOME NEEDED - These girls are as sweet as can be but are a bit more difficult to home as 2/3 require lifetime medication in hopes to control and slow benign tumour growth. If you can be a special home willing to give daily medication then these girls will give you their entire lifetime worth of love and affection!
Dolly (golden), Lucy (black), and Bridgette (grey) are a trio of laidback rats who love snuggling in hanging baskets, getting treats and head scratches from hands, and poking their heads out at any moment to say hello when they spot you. Lucy in particular with her quirky slight head tilt (the result of a previous ear infection, totally benign now) will always come up to the cage doors to greet you, begging to come out and play. They enjoy digging for treats in a ping pong ball pit and inspecting every square inch of your home during free roam time. Dolly and Bridgette have small benign mammary masses which require bromocriptine doses once a day to keep them small. Dolly will need to be given this by syringe as she hates the taste, but we are working with her so she becomes more accustomed to the quick process. Please consider giving these three uber friendly, bubbly girls the forever home they're looking for!
Jasmine (mom), Summer (grey-brown), and Mesnyi (light grey) are a group of 2 daughters and their mom Jasmine who gave gave birth and raised an impressive 12 baby boys and girls at just 2 months old after we rescued her from a hoarding situation in Hamilton.
All three were named after the Jasmine plant family, and are eager to find their forever home. Jasmine spent her entire maternity and nursing period in a loving foster home and as a result her and her daughters have been handled extensively and love spending time and playing with their human.
Now that Jasmine has successfully raised all her kids and the rest have gone to forever homes, Mesnyi and Summer enjoy jumping up on and grooming their momma and best friend Jasmine. It's quite a goofy heartwarming sight!
Please consider giving these three sweethearts a forever home with forever cuddles and treats.
Information from the girls current owner who needs to rehome.
I'm located in Smiths Falls Ontario and am looking to rehome my mischief of rats. They are all female. I have 1 grey and white girl who is 14 months old(extremely loving and outgoing, gives kisses), 1 black and white girl who is 14 months(very loving also, loves to chill on your shoulder), and 3 siamese girls that I can't tell apart, they are 5-6 months old, and are friendly but nervous as they don't see very well. They don't like being held, but i'm sure could learn to love it. Their names are Sunny, Moon, Lynx, Minx and Jinx. They will come with all of their belongings which include, aspen bedding, oxbow adult rat food, a double critter nation, multiple water bottles, food dishes, hammocks, fabric houses, cage liners, a tunnel, a wheel, and dig boxes.
