PLEASE NOTE: Our rats can be adopted ALL OVER ONTARIO! We have wonderful volunteers and can arrange rides to almost anywhere so don't let the location stop you from inquiring about some ratties!
Thank you for your interest in pet rat adoption! Our rats have so much love to share and make the BEST companions! Super smart, social, and make very deep bonds with their people, the most "human-like" of any companion animal we've ever had.
If you've decided you want to adopt a pet rat, please fill out the adoption application form below. The questions we ask are to determine the following so please be as honest and open as you can
We hope your connection with Frankie's World and your rat(s) will be a lasting one, and we are here to support you through the transition as well as ANY TIME in the future. We also LOVE getting updates on rats in their forever homes! SERIOUSLY, if you have any questions, want rat care tips or experience any issues at all, let us know! We are always here for you and the rats.
We have done rat adoptions in Hamilton, Burlington, Mississauga, Toronto, Kitchener, London and other cities in southern Ontario. We also have connections with other Ontario rat adoption centres and can link you up with amazing rat shelters in Ontario if our rats aren't suited to you for whatever reason.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if for whatever reason you are no longer able to properly care for your rat(s), or you believe that your home is no longer a good fit for them, we ask that you PLEASE BRING YOUR RAT(S) BACK TO US! Please do not give away, sell, or re-home them on your own. There is absolutely no judgement, we understand that circumstances can change, and are happy to take them back into our care if need be, whether that be temporarily or permanently. We are not a rat breeder, we are a rat adoption centre and only want the best lives for our rescues.
We came across an add on Kijiji where these boys were looking for a home. A person was advertising them as snake food but some lovely human couldn't let that happen and took them in temporarily while she could look for someone to take permanent care for them. They just so happened to be located in Owen Sound where one of us was working and so we went and picked them up straight away! Now Owen Sound is part of Bruce County so their names came to us quickly!
Mama M has made them these amazing pocket hammocks that they just can't get enough of! These boys are extremely friendly and when they're not snoozing in their super comfy hammocks, they love cuddling with their moms and playing in their pens. They are looking for a family that will give them lots of attention!
These boys are just over 1 year old and full of love to give to that special family!
These boys are very curious and active. When in their cage, you can find them all smooshed into their pocket hammock. These boys also love their snacks! Popcorn and melons are some of their favourites but the'll pretty much eat anything! and love whoever gives them those special snacks!
This bonded male trio are all brothers who are a year old. They were surrendered to us on May 20th because their human is having a baby and doesn’t have the time for them. They wanted to make sure they went to a good place where they’d find a great home.
They are currently being fostered in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. They are sweet, gentle boys who are very curious about us and are warming up to their new environment quickly.
These two boys are very calm and friendly. Despite being the perfect rats, they have been adopted and returned twice, through no fault of their own, and are desperate to meet their forever family. They are the perfect rats for anyone and just want to give all their love and affection to the right family.
Billy and Bobby also live with two baby boys so could go as a duo or a group of 4
Sweet but shy boys. You can tell they are very loveable but need a bit of time to
Bubba was living in a tiny hamster cage at a pet store. He was the last pair rat in a place where they were getting rid of all their rats and not keeping them to sell anymore. He was surrendered to us along with his brother Tonks who sadly passed away not long after arriving at the rescue. Bubba is now integrated with some loveable baby boys and they make the cutest cuddle pile!
Friendly Riggs and his "wild brothers" have been at the rescue for a year and are about 1.5 years old. These boys were one of our first big rescue groups that came in. They are not the friendliest as their name suggests, they are part wild. They don't like being held but do like free roam time and investigating the humans sat next to them in their pen. They will come and crawl on you but sudden movements make them a bit skittish and they tend to run and hide.
They need a special family who understands their unique needs and who will give them attention from a bit of a distance until they feel confident and comfortable enough to approach.
Dexter and Wilson were both surrendered to us after their siblings passed away.
Wilson (Siamese) is under 1 year old and His Brother Dexter recently passed away leaving him a lonely boy looking for a friendly rat pack to join. He is very chill and loves hanging around people. After losing so many brothers, he deserves a special home with rats and humans that will give him lots of love and a chance at another rat family.
